Suzann on a Harley

Okay, so there's no picture of me on that Harley motorcycle but I do have witnesses! LeRoy and Joan Houchen were visiting when a new friend, Ed, came over on his incredible Harley Davidson to take me for a ride. He had talked me into it when we rode out on his Quad into the desert the other day. Talk about a beautiful motorcycle. Joan really started teasing then, practically drooling over this obviously new, huge machine.

It was 6 p.m. and a beautiful evening. Other than the wind trying to blow me off the bike, the ride was wonderful. True to his word, he made it a short ride - about 40 minutes - and there wasn't much traffic. But it curved and wound thru the desert - I "lean" quite naturally he says (haha) - and I loved it.

And here I've been such a chicken all this time!!!! Where are those "Wild Hogs?"

Wickenburg Spring Flowers

The flowers are coming out daily now and although I'll miss a lot, what I have seen are beautiful.

Desert Caballeros - the American Way

There's nothing like a western "whatever," be it rodeo or Desert Caballeros Ride to remind us of the basic patriotism and wholesomeness of the American people.

Our flag flying, everyone removing their hats and placing them over their hearts, and a young woman with a magnificent voice singing "God Bless America" and then the National Anthem. I was not the only one in the crowd with tears in my eyes.

It was really moving and for me, having been overseas for so long, a wonderful reminder of how patriotic we Americans really are.

Desert Caballeros 62nd Annual Ride

More than 175 riders left historic downtown Wickenburg at noon today, Monday April 7, for their 4- night trip to the desert. This is the 62nd year horsemen have been gathering for this famous ride and they've come from all over America. Amazing. They'll ride back into town on Friday, April 11...I'm sure a bit worse for the wear!

A Ride in Wickenburg's Desert

A beautiful April day in the desert. I'm not sure what you call this machine - idea would have been a "dune buggy" back when - but it was great fun. Drove thru water, sand, up hills, down, big rocks, little rocks. haha And this is one of my Wickenburg new friends. Great folks here always ready to show you their town. Thursday I'm going on a "short" ride on his Harley!!!! I think.

Wickenburg

What a lovely town. May get too cold in the winter for me but the days are perfect now.
